Health officials link US salmonella outbreak to red onions – The Associated Press

Federal well being officers say an outbreak of salmonella infecting almost 400 individuals in more than 30 states has been linked to crimson onions, and recognized a California firm because the possible source.

The Food and Drug Administration stated in a press release on Friday that Thomson International Inc. of Bakersfield, California, has notified the meals company that it will likely be recalling all types of onions that would have are available contact with doubtlessly contaminated crimson onions due to the danger of cross-contamination.

There have been no deaths linked to the outbreak, which was first recognized July 10 and has since grown. The company says the sicknesses started between mid-June and mid-July.

The Public Health Agency of Canada can also be investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Newport sicknesses which have a genetic fingerprint carefully associated to the U.S. outbreak, that company stated Thursday.
